ALA receives grant for civic engagement

The American Library Association received a grant from the Fetzer Institute to support conversations about community, civility and compassion. Although libraries by their very nature are civically engaged, a program like this will give them a chance to label themselves as such - which might remind others (read: policy makers, patrons, taxpayers, etc.) what they stand for.
